No excuses for those sans record players – the vinyl comes with a lovely code allowing you to download the tracks as well as additional, super B-sides.
And here’s a lovely review…
The venerable Cloud Sounds, purveyors of on-line alternative Manchester Music radio and some pretty damn fine accompanying live nights, continue their foray into the recorded music sector with this impressive split single. Generalissimos open up on one side with a snappy, arguably epic indie sway. “The Men behind The Man” has all the markings of David Byrne fronting They Might be Giants. Where Generalissimos may have previously crumbled into a lovely shade of chaos, they now seem to have brought some order to their moustachioed mayhem. Meanwhile on the flipside the irrepressible Onions slap on more harmonies and rattled beat guitars than the Beatles at a 60’s garage psyche convention. Don’t call them quirky, but do compare them to maybe Sparks fettling around with the new sound of Irwell. “I Want To be A Dancer” is beat music played sideways with an admirable chunk of pop madness. So thank heavens to Cloud Sounds for reminding us that music isn’t just about furrowed brows and invite only opportunities – like they say, the future’s bright, the future’s cloudy…
