Guardian Fun.

As a middle class, woolly liberal there’s fewer things I like doing on Saturday morning than sitting down with a nice cup of tea and reading the Guardian Guide. On the first Saturday of the month, I’m extra excited as I get to see whether the Cloud Sounds gig nights are featured in the listings bit.

They were once. Last February.

On the first Saturday of 2010 (that’s today), the thought of the night being advertised didn’t cross my mind. This was mainly due to the fact that we’re not putting on a night this month, rather than the fact that they have ignored us for nearly a year now.

Imagine my surprise when, not only were we listed, we were in the pick of the week:
“Cloud Sounds – Ace showcase of fresh indie, pop and electro beats from the fine, funny and inventive talent spotters of the Cloud Sounds radio podcast. Just what the new year ordered”

Fuck knows where they got ‘electro beats‘ from. Fine, funny and inventive is just about right though…

Anyway, the gig in question was last month’s triumphant Christmas Special featuring The Loungs, The Generalissimos, Y Niwl and Alun Tan Lan.

So, thank you to The Guardian for writing all those kind words about us. But, unfortunately you were a month too late for the gig.

The gig night will return on February 6th with The Maladies Of Bellafontaine and others…

The fine, funny and inventive radio show will return on January 23rd.

Until then, feel free to listen to the wonderful Festive Bestive…if you haven’t already.

Finally, I apologise in advance for ramming that quote down everyone’s throat for the foreseeable future. It’s taken three and a half years but someone has finally said something nice about me and I will have my moment in the sun!
