Cloud Sounds Live returns! And hooray for that.
To celebrate, we have three of the region’s hottest new bands. All of which have been described as ‘the new Delphic’*.
Cloud Sounds stalwarts The Maladies of Bellafontaine and S.R. Gents return for the fourth and third time, respectively.
Joining them will be the wonderfully strange samandtheplants, possibly with home-made instruments.
SO JOIN US
*this statement is sarcastic. Any Delphic fans who turn up will be very disappointed. And no one wants that.
Date: Saturday, 06 February 2010

Admittedly, December 5th is a little early for a Christmas party but it’s the only chance we get. Plus, most people start celebrating Christmas at the end of August these days co comparatively we’re quite late.
Anyway, as is tradition (we did it last year, at least) Cloud Sounds has invited back three of the best acts that have graced us with their presence this year…The Loungs, The Generalissimos and Alun Tan Lan.
However, as it’s Christmas and we live to give here at Cloud Sounds, we have also invited Wales’ finest (an possibly only) surf band super-group Y Niwl to play there first ever gig in England. Featuring ex-members of Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Eitha Tal Ffranco, Cate Le Bon’s band and Alun Tan Lan, check out the video below to watch them rock a fat one and make Gruff Rhys smile (that’s at 1:35).
Also, if anyone fancies sticking around after the bands finish, there’s an outside chance that I’ll be playing some Christmas songs. I still don’t have Mariah Carey but I do have Christmas In Hollis by Run DMC…

As usual doors open at 8pm.
Last month, I said that the line up was one of the most exciting line ups we’ve ever had.
This month, it really is one of the most exciting line ups we’ve ever had!
First up, we have the eagerly anticipated and long awaited (by me, at least) return of The Forest. Now a stripped down one-piece, drum machines and loop pedals are possible, a very loud guitar is probable.
Next up is Mat Riviere. He is one of the best acts we’ve ever put on and is certainly the best musician I’ve ever seen who plays on his knees.
Finally, returning to Cloud Sounds for the third time, we have Delicate Hammers. Impossible to categorize, they are essentially a bunch of whackjobs arseing around…and reviewers keep saying they look like teachers.
Fun times ahead.
@ FUEL in Withington from 8pm, Saturday 7th November.

Cloud Sounds returns after a well deserved month off with one of the most exciting line ups we’ve ever had.
First up, from Wales, we have the current holder of the Cloud Sounds Album of the Year Award and all round good guy, Sweet Baboo.
Next, ALL THE WAY FROM CALIFORNIA (that’s in America) we have the delightful Americana of The Blank Tapes. Come on down to show them some good old fashioned Mancunian hospitality.
Finally, we have one of Manchester’s finest new bands – KingTree and the Roots. Come on down to show them that there’s life outside of Chorlton.
Oh and it’s an Oxjam affiliated event, so if you don’t don’t come, you evidently enjoy people starving…
