HOORAY! It’s the 4th Annual Cloud Sounds Welsh Special. By far and away, the greatest hour of radio all year.
Following in the footsteps of the Texas Radio Band, Euros Childs and Richard James, H.Hawkline is artist of the week. A career highlight, no doubt. This includes an exclusive track from his forthcoming album, The Strange Uses Of Ox Gall.
Also this week, I say little else other than ‘I’ve probably pronounced that wrong’ and ‘I’m not even going to try and pronounce that.’
BRILLIANT!

This week, we sell our soul to The Company Store as we have The Sixteen Tonnes as artist of the week.
Also this week, there’s just a lot of hungover ramblings about 90′s American indie, releasing albums by bands who have split up and the like. Same old, same old.

The Son(s) are artist of the week. They have a wonderful album out now on Olive Grove Records.
Please insert an informative and witty line about the show here, while I go and play in the sun.

This week, I battle the the mega-sniffles* to bring you the magnificent Erland and the Carnival as artist of the week. Their second album, Nightingale, is out now on Full Time Hobby.
Also this week, I initiate my own battle of the bands, the participants of which may find amusing. They are probably more likely to think it’s unfunny and out of order, though.
*I only mention it once and edited out all the sniffing (although I do sound awful).

In a very special show, we celebrate all things Gintis, in anticipation of the release of their long awaited (by me, at least) second album – Idiot Guides and Plans (released 11th April).
It’s real Gintis love-in, featuring friends, well wishers and side projects. Plus, a rare play of the winner of the first ever Festive Bestive – the only song I know of that has brought Cloud Sounds listeners to tears.

Wazzup crazy dogs? The drunk fucks down at Manchester Scenewipe have another free compilation for you to download here. To celebrate, I decided to play loads of stuff from it. Saves me having to find music myself.
To celebrate further, the unquestionable stars of the comp, Onions are artist of the week. I’ve been sitting on their album for about 9 months now and, with no release date in sight, I decided enough is enough. Their third track is pretty special. Listen and marvel.

Despite claiming for several months that he’d be shit at doing this, the Folly of Youth takes over this week and is absolutely magnificent. Did someone say the next Bob Harris?
There’s no artist of the week (there never has been in the takeover slots, not sure why?), but there’s loads of ace music, including a welsh band that even I haven’t played before…

The See See are artist of the week. Their wonderful debut, Late Morning Light is out now. Also this week, I have further problems with a certain band’s MP3s cutting off halfway through, I get distracted by the rain and I open the show as camp as possible. Other music from: Conquering Animal Sound Beaulieu [...]
Conquering Animal Sound, the band who finished 4th here, are artist of the week as we play tracks from their dreamily superb Kammerspiel album, out now on Gizeh Records.
Also this week, I make a pretty pathetic plea for you to say nice things about me here, and one of the tracks cuts off halfway through. I don’t let the situation bother me though, I’m a real pro…

This week, Cloud Sounds is taken over by the delightful Tania K, the woman behind this and, more importantly, this.
No artist of the week but plenty of garage / surf rock, shoe gaze and shed pop.
Enjoy.
